Woman robbed at knifepoint in town park

A 53-year-old woman was threatened by a mugger at knifepoint before being forced to hand over handbag.

Police officers are appealing for witnesses following the robbery which took place in Kettering at 5.15pm on Friday, December 14.

The victim walked into Rockingham Leisure Park from the entrance outside All Saints Church, when she was approached from behind by a man who threatened her with a knife and demanded that she hand over her handbag. He then took her handbag from her shoulder and ran off into the park towards Park Road.

The offender is described as between 5ft 5in and 5ft 7in, of slim build, wearing dark trousers and a dark anorak-style, waist-length jacket with a light coloured band across the middle of the back.
