Woman rescued from flat fire

A woman, aged 28, was rescued by firefighters from a blazing flat in Rushden.

The fire at the ground floor flat in Denton Road started just before 9pm last night (Thursday, November 22) after clothing was left on top of a cooker.

The woman was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics.

Three fire crews, two from Rushden and one from Irthlingborough, attended the blaze.

The kitchen was severely damaged and there was smoke damage to four other rooms.
