Woman pushed to the ground and robbed near Kettering cemetery

A 61-year-old woman suffered cuts and bruises after being pushed to the ground and robbed near a cemetery.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery which took place at about 6.45pm on Sunday (February 3) in St Peter’s Avenue, Kettering, opposite the entrance to the cemetery.

The victim was pushed to the ground and her handbag was stolen.

A police spokesman said the woman sustained minor injuries including cuts and bruises.

The offender jumped over a gate into London Road Cemetery.

The police spokesman added: “Residents of properties surrounding the cemetery are asked to check their gardens for a large black zip-up handbag.”

The robber was a man, 5ft 8in or 5ft 9in and athletic. He wore a grey hooded top with the hood up, a black jacket with a collar and dark trousers.
