A woman was injured after being hit at a pedestrian crossing.

The 54-year-old victim was crossing Newton Road, Rushden, at the pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights near to the Rectory Road and Park Road junction when the accident happened.

A blue mini, with a Union Jack painted on the roof, failed to stop at the red light and collided with her, causing minor injuries.

The driver then failed to stop again and drove off towards the town centre.

The accident took place at about 1.30pm on Monday, July 16.
