A 32-year-old woman who was travelling with a child in the car has been killed in a road accident.
Lorraine Susan Gordon, of Corby, died in the accident in Loughborough on Thursday.
She was driving a silver Citroen Saxo which was involved in a collision with a Blue Volvo 940.
The nine-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car was not injured.
Police would not say if the child passenger and the victim are related.
The collision happened at 5.45pm on the A512 Ashby Road at its junction with Schofield Road, in Loughborough.
No-one else was injured in the collision.
Det Sgt Mark Partridge, who is investigating the accident, said: "The Citroen was travelling towards Loughborough from the direction of the M1 and the Volvo was exiting Schofield Road and was intending to turn right when the collision took place.
"It is important anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles prior to the incident, contacts police as any information they have could prove vital to our inquiries."
