Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Kettering.

The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, June 23, between 1.50am and 2am.

A 20-year-old woman was waiting at a taxi rank on Horsemarket when another woman attempted to jump the queue. An argument broke out between the women and a group of men who were also waiting in the queue.

The offender believed the victim was with the men and hit her in the face, causing her a cut face and extensive bruising to the eye. The offender then left the scene in a silver taxi.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, in particular the taxi driver who may be a key witness.

The offender is described as a white woman, aged 30 to 35, about 5ft 5in, of larger build with dark brown hair in a pony-tail.

She was wearing a dark-coloured vest and had a distinctive star tattoo that went from her neck down to her left breast.

Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
