A 51-year old woman was airlifted to hospital after being involved in a road traffic collision between Kettering and Northampton yesterday (Sunday, January 12).

The incident occurred when two vehicles collided on the A43, at the junction with Redhouse Road and Red House Lane – the roads to Orlingbury and Hannington respectively – just after 10am.

The patient was a passenger in one of the vehicles and sustained chest, back and arm injuries in the collision. Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) was called out to the incident at approximately 10.05am, arriving at the scene of the incident 17 minutes later.

The patient had been trapped in the vehicle for an hour and had to be freed from the vehicle by Northants Fire and Rescue Service. Once freed, she was given analgesia and immobilised before being flown to University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire for further treatment.

A spokesman for WNAA said her condition was stable during the flight and on handover to hospital staff. There has been no further update on her condition.
