An elderly woman has been taken to hospital after her car left the road and crashed into a tree on a busy road just outside Kettering.
The single-vehicle incident took place at about 4.15pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, January 13) near the Harvester pub.
The road – the A43 between Kettering and Corby – was closed and the air ambulance attended.
A Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance spokesman said: “The patient’s car had left the road and rolled down an embankment, leaving the driver with a possible head injury.
“The air ambulance crew worked with the other emergency services on-scene to swiftly and safely extricate the patient.
“The 78-year-old woman was assessed as having a possible head injury, and was immobilised for travel to prevent any further injury.”
She has since been transferred to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.
