Woman, 27, assaulted by man in the early hours

A 27-year-old woman was assaulted by a man in the early hours in Wellingborough.

The woman was assaulted at the petrol station in Gold Street sometime between 4.30am and 5am on Saturday, June 30.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: “The woman had walked to the garage from the direction of Fever nightclub where she had been involved in an altercation with a man.

“The same man approached the woman while she was at the petrol station and after a brief conversation, assaulted her, leaving her with a cut to the face.

“The offender was a man, about 5ft7” tall, of mixed race, in his early 20s, with a pointy nose, with short dark coloured hair and was wearing a blue hooded top.”

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information about it.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
