As the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan soon approaches, staff at Scott Bader are busy preparing for not one but five coffee mornings.
The first event is on the official coffee morning date of Friday, September 28, and then four others will take place over the next month, ending on October 23 with a Halloween special.
Scott Bader has been fundraising for Macmillan by holding coffee mornings since 2005.
Last year they raised £421, which was then doubled by the company as part of its Matched Funding Scheme, meaning that a total of £842 was given to Macmillan.
This made them the 12th best coffee morning fundraiser in the county.
Sue Carter, who co-ordinates Scott Bader’s coffee mornings with Hayley Sutherland, said they were now hoping to get in the top 10 this year.
Staff at Scott Bader, which is based in Wollaston, enjoy holding coffee mornings for Macmillan because it creates a “bit of fun at work”.
They particularly enjoy it because, as various departments hold different coffee mornings, they have competition between different departments.
Not only are the coffee mornings good fun for staff, they all appreciate that the money they raise is going to a good cause.
Sue said lots of people have been affected by cancer in some way in the company and have been supported by the Macmillan nurses.
The popularity of Macmillan with staff is also illustrated by the fact it is supported by Scott Bader’s own charity, Scott Bader Commonwealth Ltd.
