An extension to the Burton Latimer wind farm which was granted planning permission last year has been sold off to a developer.
The Burton Wold Wind Farm currently consists of 10 turbines.
But energy firm First Renewable successfully applied for an extension of seven turbines in November.
The extension has now been purchased by investment firm John Laing.
The additional seven turbines will generate enough energy to meet the needs of 11,000 homes, say John Laing.
A company spokesman said: “The financial aspect of the deal is scheduled for completion in August 2013, although work on site infrastructure is expected to start beforehand.
“The turbines are planned for installation in early 2014.”
