A Wellingborough woman has ‘Braved the Shave’ for a cancer charity.

Loz Alcindor-Gilmour has had her hair shaved off in front of the parishioners of St Edmund Campion Church in the town.

The headshave, which is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, took place on Sunday, August 9, at the Henshaw Road church.

The mum of two, who works at Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School in the town, said: “I have a lot of loved ones, friends and colleagues, who have either had cancer, are currently being treated for it or worst of all have sadly lost their battle with it.

“I wanted to make that little bit of a difference and raise some much-needed and well-deserved money to help those supporting my friends and family through these very difficult times.

“I was overwhelmed by the support, well wishes and encouragement shown by my family, friends, Monsignor John Broadhurst and the parishoners.

“No words can describe how inspired and refreshed I’m feeling all for the cause. They all helped me through the day.

“My target was to raise £500 but I have raised £2,600 so far and more money is coming in via my sponsor forms.”
