Wellingborough will host a tea party tomorrow (Thursday) as part of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations.
With the support of Nene Valley Community Action, mayor Barry Graves will be holding the tea party at the Tithe Barn from 1.30pm until 4pm, and all are welcome to attend.
Cllr Graves said: “This is an important event to mark the Queen’‟s milestone birthday and I am proud to be part of the celebrations.
“This will be a wonderful opportunity for Wellingborough to be able to mark the occasion by bringing people together.”
Other activities taking place on the day include performances from Northamptonshire Carers Choir, Ukulele Crew and Croyland School Choir.
Judging of the local primary schools’ Portrait of the Queen art competition will also take place.
Nene Valley Community Action CEO Rosemary Hadaway said: “Preparations are well under way for the Queen‟‘s 90th birthday activities in Wellingborough.
“We would like to hear from any residents who are also due to celebrate their 90th birthday on April 21 so they can be involved in the borough celebration.
“As well as the local primary school art competition, we are also inviting any knitting or baking enthusiasts to contribute a piece of work that depicts their view of the Queen.”
