Shoppers helped raise nearly £2,000 in just one day as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

People generously donated to the Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal during the annual Pink Day at Wellingborough’s Swansgate Shopping Centre and raised £1,948.30 on October 25.

Crazy Hats members set up a stall in the centre selling their official merchandise, including t-shirts, badges and pens, plus shoppers had the chance to take part in a pink tombola sponsored by Avon.

All donations and money raised from the event will go to Crazy Hats, which provides help to men and women before and during breast cancer treatment and supports them in their battle to become breast cancer survivors.

The charity also works closely with Kettering and Northampton General Hospital and the Plastic Surgery Department at Leicester Royal Infirmary to provide support and help raise funds.

Crazy Hats founder Glennis Hooper from Wellingborough said: “Once again we were overwhelmed by the support and generosity of visitors to the centre.

“Everyone entered into the spirit of things and there was a lovely atmosphere.

“To raise such a substantial amount is amazing; it is humbling to know that we have so much support for local breast cancer services and that we are making a difference.”
