A collection of commemorative medals has been given a new lease of life by Wellingborough picture framers the Pixie Gallery.

Owner Neil Pengelly donated the bespoke mount and frame to ensure the medals look their best for years to come.

A different medal is produced and put on sale each year to commemorate the Waendel Walk, along with ribbons to mark the distances completed and bars to indicate the number of years a walker has participated.

Now in its 38th year, the Waendel Walk weekend kicks off tonight (Friday) with 5km and 10km friendship walks, followed by routes between 5km and 42km tomorrow (Saturday) and on Sunday.

The collection of medals will be on display in The Castle theatre’s main auditorium all weekend.
