Wellingborough library will close for two weeks in July while building work takes place.
The library, in Pebble Lane, will shut from Monday, July 2, to Sunday, July 15, to allow a new roof and energy efficient heating and lighting to be installed. It will reopen on Monday, July 16.
During the two-week closure people can renew their books online at www.northamptonshire.gov.uk by following the link ‘renew my library book’, or by visiting another library.
The refurbishment, which also includes repainting and replacement glazing to some of the library’s windows, began on June 11 and will be completed in early August.
Northamptonshire county council cabinet member for customer services, cllr Heather Smith, said: “Wellingborough library is overdue a facelift, the roof has leaked for some years now and despite minor repairs has continued to be a problem. The work taking place over the summer will ensure the library is not only watertight but is also much warmer for customers in the winter.
“Most of the work can take place while the library is open, but it will be closed from 2nd to 15th July. Don’t forget that you can visit any of the other 35 libraries in the county and you can renew your items online too.
“I’d also like to thank everyone for their patience, the work taking place will really improve the experience for the 4,200 customers who visit the library every week.”
