Staff at a Wellingborough care home joined hundreds of other walkers to raise £490 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The seven staff members, from Lancum House care home, which is run by Shaw healthcare, joined together for the first time as the ‘Lancum Lovelies’ to raise money for the dementia charity.

The 8km walk started at the bandstand in Abbey Park, Leicester, before following the River Soar past the National Space Centre.

Lancum House manager Yvonne Murphy said: “It was great to get out and about to raise money for such a good cause.

“The team really enjoyed the walk and the weather even managed to hold up, which was the icing on the cake!”
