A family brewery has teamed up with a town theatre to craft a one-off beer to help mark a special anniversary.
The Castle Theatre in Wellingborough is celebrating its 20th anniversary and decided to team up with the Hart Family Brewers to create the venue a brand new birthday ale.
The beer will be unveiled during the theatre’s 20th anniversary gala dinner on Monday, March 30.
Last Thursday, Castle Theatre director Darren Walter was on hand to kick off the mashing of the British malted barley and malted rye with hot water to extract the natural sugars before adding a generous amount of UK grown Pioneer hops to the brew kettle.
Mr Walter said: “Throughout February, The Castle and Hart ran a competition to name the birthday beer.
“We are delighted to announce that the winning name is Limelight, suggested on Facebook by Steve Marston.

“Customers can enjoy Limelight, a crisp session rye pale ale, when it is served at The Castle’s 20th anniversary gala dinner, and then throughout April.
“To have such an excellent brewery on your doorstep is such an asset for Wellingborough, and The Castle is incredibly proud to have a great relationship with Hart that has now culminated in the production of our very own anniversary ale.”
Hart Family Brewers are a Wellingborough-based brewery who brew traditional English beers from top quality ingredients, hand-made in their custom-built brewery.
Rob Hart the brewer said: “Limelight is quite a contemporary style of pale ale with light citrus flavours and a touch of spiciness.
“Pioneer was clearly the right hop to use as we all look forward to the next 20 years at The Castle.”
The award-winning Hart Family Brewers was set up in 2012 and is run by husband and wife Rob and Sarah Hart, who used to work in the wine industry.
