Safer community team officers in Wellingborough are joining forces with partners for a week of action in the town, which starts tomorrow (Tuesday).
The police, together with Wellingborough Homes, are paying for a number of skips to assist a big tidy-up on Castle Ward, Kiln Way and Minerva Way later this week.
A litter pick has been organised with the residents’ association on Thursday and it is hoped that a local school may assist with a similar event in the Castle Ward the day before.
The market supervisor is supplying litter-picking equipment to officers and other helpers for the week and Wilkinson’s has donated a quantity of heavy-duty glovers for the operation.
Sgt Sharan Wildman, of Wellingborough Town Safer Community Team, said: “Anti-social behaviour seriously affects people’s quality of life.
“The problem of littering makes communities feel less good about themselves.
“Take litter home with you, don’t throw it out of car windows or into the gutter.
“We are determined to work closely with our partners in Wellingborough to make the town a pleasant place in which to live and work.”
