Traffic in the north of the county faced some disruption because of the severe weather this morning (Christmas Eve).

Corby’s Gainsborough Road was again affected by heavy rain which led to flooding near the turning to Maplefields School. The road was closed to traffic in both directions but has since been reopened.

In Kettering, flooding caused problems in London Road – at the junction with Hillside Avenue – and at the junction of Northampton Road and Northfield Avenue.

Earlier, a fallen tree had led to delays in Northampton Road in Earls Barton. It has also since been cleared.

Meanwhile, officers from Northants Fire and Rescue Service spent the night on alert in case of any flooding incidents.

They inspected flooding in Polwell Lane, Burton Latimer, at about 2am, and also pumped away flood water from properties in Grange Close, Denton, at about 3.30am.
