Just when you thought it was safe to go back to Stanwick Lakes...
Steven Spielberg’s famous shark is set to appear this summer on the open-air big screen at Stanwick Lakes to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the blockbuster thriller Jaws.
The film, which has a 12A certificate, will play after sunset on Friday, August 14, (doors from 7.30pm).
The film is part of the Luna Flix outdoor cinema season organised by local film fan Simon Hopkins.
He said: “I have always loved Jaws but never actually saw it on 1975’s cinema release as I was too young, so this will be my first time seeing it on the big screen as well as many of our audience.
“And yes, I remember a certain famous scene where I did jump out of my skin too!”
Luna Flix projects films on to a seven-metre-wide inflatable screen, creating a clear HD picture and accompanied with up to 4000 watts of sound.
It has been working with Stanwick Lakes to make use of its grassy amphitheatre by the lake and the showings have proved very successful since launching in May.
Mr Hopkins said: “Being outdoors is what makes our film experience different.
“Anyone can go to a multiplex, but it won’t be as memorable as enjoying your picnic while the sun sets over the water, and seeing if you can spot a shark fin!”
The current season at Stanwick continues until September 12 with popular films voted for by the public including The Lost Boys, Grease (singalong), Back To The Future, Labyrinth, Ghostbusters, Pretty Woman and the musical Hairspray.
Luna Flix will then transfer to Lamport Hall from September 18 to 20 to run a Love Film weekend featuring romantic favourites Dirty Dancing, An Officer & A Gentleman and the recent remake of Far From The Madding Crowd.
Tickets can only be bought on-line in advance:
For Stanwick Lakes: Adult £9.00, Under 15 £6.50.
For Lamport Hall: Adult £11.50, Under 15 £8.
Both venues will include free parking during the event.
