A big screen is being put up in Corby town centre on Saturday (September 1) and residents are invited to watch the town’s Paralympian Niall Graham in action.
Corby Council’s sport development team has teamed up with town sports clubs and commercial property managers Ashdown Phillips to organise an action-packed day of Paralympic-themed games and a live feed to the big events at the Olympic Park.
The big screen is being put up in George Street and there will be fun and games from 10am until 2pm.
Niall, 20, of The Lakes, Corby, was selected for GB’s six-man goalball squad.
The side was thrashed 11-1 by Lithuania today (Thursday, August 30)in the opening match of the day’s competition.
But supporters in Corby are invited to turn out to cheer him on in the town centre on Saturday.
The council’s lead member for community, Cllr John McGhee, said: “The London 2012 Olympic Games were a huge success making the whole country proud to be British. Now it’s time to celebrate Team GB all over again.
“With our very own local athlete Niall competing for Great Britain, hopefully there will be a big turnout of residents on Saturday to cheer him and the rest of the country’s sporting stars as they do us all proud in the Paralympic Games.”
