Diversions will be in place as Northamptonshire County Council carries out work on a section of the Newton Road just off the A6003 between Kettering and Corby.
Work on building the A43 Corby Link Road started eight weeks ago and as part of these early stages it is necessary to install three drains across Newton Road, very near to the junction with the A6003.
The two-day closure, scheduled between midnight on Saturday, September 15, and 6am on Monday, September 17, is required to ensure the drainage can be installed safely and quickly.
The closure will unavoidably cause some disruption for road users, but to keep it to a minimum the works have been timed for a period at the weekend when traffic flow is at its lowest.
Traffic wishing to travel westbound from the A43 at Geddington to the village of Newton will not be affected.
The road between Great Oakley and Newton will not be closed.
There will be no access off the A6003 on to the Newton Road, and traffic will be required to use the diversion route along the A6003, and from the A6003/A6014 junction using Saxon Way West, Headway and Mill Hill to get back to the Newton Road.
In the event of the work having to be cancelled, for example due to bad weather conditions, the works will be re-scheduled for the weekend of September 29 and 30.
