Volunteers have been thanked for their efforts in the running of a community centre.

Glamis Hall in Goldsmith Road, Wellingborough, has been run by the Glamis Hall For All committee for about 10 months now.

They have been in charge since they persuaded Wellingborough Council to transfer it over to them as a community asset.

But while the centre goes from strength to strength, none of this would have been possible without the hard work of all its volunteers so the committee put on a barbecue last week to thank them for their ongoing support.

Graham Campbell of the Glamis Hall For All group said: “We had a barbecue on Sunday to say thank you to all the volunteers for all the hard work they do throughout the year.

“There was plenty of food and drink for everyone, that was served by the trustees and staff.

“We had a bouncy castle for all the children and the good weather made it an excellent day for everyone as well.”

Glamis Hall provides a lunch club for the over-50s from 11am to 2pm every Monday to Friday with a three-course meal and activities.

They also run the well-being centre which is open from 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday.

As well as providing a three-course meal and activities, there are other services on offer including assisted bathing for those who cannot bath or shower at home on their own.

As well as needing volunteers to help with the running of the centre, fundraising is another area where they are always looking for support.

A race night is being held at Glamis Hall on Saturday (October 10) with the first race at 7.45pm.

Tickets are £3 including a sausage and chips supper and are available by calling 01933 677326.

Proceeds will go to Glamis Hall.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event, which includes nine races and a fully licensed bar.
