People are being asked to volunteer and help make Kingswood a cleaner place by joining in the latest Big Pick event organised by Corby Council.

Between 10am and midday on Wednesday, September 23, the council’s community safety and neighbourhood management teams will be linking up with Northamptonshire Police and local volunteers to pick up litter and tackle fly-tipping in the Kingswood area.

This kind of event couldn’t happen without the amazing volunteers that join in and help to clear up their areas

To join in people just need to go along to the Kingswood Community Centre in Alberta Close at 10am and get stuck in.

All equipment will be provided and a free bacon roll and drinks will be provided as a thank you to everyone that helped out.

Leader of Corby Council Tom Beattie said: “Our Big Pick events are always a great success and make a big difference to local areas.

“In our last Big Pick a total of 43 bags of rubbish were cleared away from the Lodge Park estate along with numerous fly-tipped items.

“This kind of event couldn’t happen without the amazing volunteers that join in and help to clear up their areas so please come and spare an hour or so to make this event just as successful.”

Anyone who would like to get involved in future Big Pick events or would like a litter pick in their area can contact Corby Council’s community engagement officer Lizzie Hudson on 01536 464603 or the Corby Community Safety Partnership on twitter www.twitter.com/CorbyCSP or Facebook www.facebook.com/CorbyCSP.
