A Corby support group is appealing for volunteers to enable them to continue supporting stroke survivors on their road to recovery.
Corby Stroke Group was launched in October 2014 and meets on the second Friday of the month at Danesholme Community Centre in Corby from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
The group was created in partnership with the Stroke Association and is now run by volunteers. It provides information about stroke and details of local services, support for stroke survivors, their friends and family and the opportunity to chat to others affected by stroke.
Each session has a different focus with speakers from local organisations, creative therapy and exercise sessions.
Vernon Hudson, 70, had a stroke 12 years ago and was a member before choosing to volunteer. He said: “The group gets me out of the house and gives me something to focus on. I enjoy talking to other people who have also had strokes and showing them there is life after stroke. We’re a friendly group and would very much welcome newcomers.”
