A kind-hearted woman is going on a volunteer placement to support a project which tackles poverty in Burkina Faso.

Twenty-year-old Sophie Howe, of Windermere Drive, Wellingborough, will travel to the African country next month to work on the development programme for 12 weeks.

Sophie will team up with volunteers to tackle some of the problems facing the local community and disabled people after getting a place on the Government-funded International Citizen Service.

Miss Howe said she is excited about going to Burkina Faso and make a difference, helping people who really need it.
