Villagers rolled up their sleeves and gave their church a spring clean on Saturday (March 16).
St John the Evangelist’s in Caldecott was spruced up inside and out.
Church warden Mary Davidson said: “We have a hard-working team who do a brilliant job of cleaning the church and mowing the lawn all year round but every spring we do a few extra jobs. We give it a real blitz before Easter.”
Inside the church volunteers tackled cobwebs in the corners, changed light bulbs, polished pews and left brasses gleaming.
Outside helpers cleared guttering and checked the safety of headstones.
Mrs Davidson’s husband Andrew recently discovered the church’s font cover in the cellar and spent weeks restoring it to its former glory.
