A town has welcomed in the summer with its party weekend, played out in glorious weather.
The Party in the Park in Wellingborough took place this afternoon (Sunday, July 7), with hundreds gathering to hear music from performers including a One Direction tribute band.
The event, which included a range of stalls and fairground rides at Croyland Park in the town, followed the town’s carnival parade yesterday (Saturday).
“I think it’s been a good turnout,” said Cllr Paul Bell, the leader of Wellingborough council. “It’s packed next to the stage and the rides are also very busy.”
Cllr Bell, who praised the carnival committee for their hard work in organising the events, also hailed the success of the parade, adding: “It was a gorgeous day yesterday and the streets were two or three deep.”
Colin and Trish Kightley, from Wellingborough, brought their seven-year-old triplet grandchildren to the party. Trish said: “It’s a nice occasion, nice for the children – and the weather is lovely.”
