The charity’s volunteers immediately took her to the vets to treat her wounds and infected eyes, believed to have been caused by a dog.

They have been nursing her for several weeks since in the hope she will make a full recovery.

A spokesman for the charity said: “When she arrived, she had puncture wounds all over her face and we were not sure if she would survive.

“She wants constant cuddles as she misses the warmth of her mum.”

Violet is now recovering well after several weeks of recuperation.

Visitors will be able to meet the pig at an open day at Brook Farm on September 29 from 11am until 4pm.

Admission is £1 and free for children accompanied by an adult.
