A special event to celebrate the independent shops in Rushden has kicked-off on Thursday (July 4), with a pop-up market, taster sessions, and special offers in a number of shops on offer.
The Independent’s Day event marks the first day of the larger Get To Know Rushden event, and organisers said the town’s independent shops are coming together to show people the quality on their doorstep.
The day has been organised by Rushden Town Partnership and its chairman, Lorna Wiltshire, is urging people to come into the town and see what is on offer.
There are a number of taster sessions on offer throughout today, including a learn to knit session at 2pm at Manfield Crafts, in Griffith Street and pizza making at 3pm at Pizzeria Venezia, in Church Street.
Miss Wiltshire said: “If you come down you can also take part in our shoe competition. We’ve got 12 shoes hanging up in the shop windows of the town.
“So, you can actually start from Church Street, you can work your way all the way up to the end of the High Street.
“We’ve got 12 individual shoes and you need to match up the pairs, and you can win one of three £50 vouchers to spend in selected Rushden shops.”
There has also been a sausage making taster session at T E Brown High Class Butchers, in High Street, and cooking with an AGA session at Peter Crisp Design Studio, in Church Street, this morning.
All the taster sessions are free.
There are a number of stores throughout the town with special offers during the day.
Organisers will be in the High Street, next to the pop-up market, throughout the day and will be on hand to offer any help and hand out information.
