Hundreds of people have lined the streets of Wellingborough to watch the town’s annual parade this afternoon (Saturday, July 6).
The event had to be cancelled last year because of poor weather, but the procession which toured around the town centre was this year bathed in sunshine.
The parade began in High Street at 1pm, making its way to Croyland Park by 3pm, kicking off Wellingborough’s party weekend.
A range of costumes – including everything from a Doctor Who Dalek to colourful crayons – as well as dance routines and musical entertainment were enthusiastically cheered on by the crowds.
Tomorrow (Sunday), the park will host six hours of live music from 12pm in this year’s Party in the Park.
Wellingborough council leader Cllr Paul Bell said: “Our party weekend is always really special, and even more so this year after we had to cancel it last summer because of the weather. The two days are packed with real community entertainment.”
