Hundreds of people were whipped into a Union flag-waving frenzy at the annual Proms in the Park in Rushden yesterday (Saturday, August 31).
The Rushden Windmill Band entertained picnic-laden visitors for two hours, performing a range of pieces, from a Mary Poppins medley to the Beatles.
The evening finished with traditional Last Night of the Proms favourites, including Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.
And the crowds were also serenaded by an impromptu choir which included Rushden mayor David Jenney and his Wellingborough counterpart Graham Lawman.
Proceeds from the evening go to Cllr Jenney’s chosen mayor’s charities, the Rushden branch of the Royal British Legion and the Rushden Sea Cadets.
“I am always pleased to see the people of Rushden enjoying themselves,” Cllr Jenney said.
