The annual fireworks display at Wicksteed Park in Kettering went with a bang this evening (Saturday, November 2).
Thousands of people braved rain and strong winds as they turned out to watch the display, which was put on by Northamptonshire firm MLE Pyrotechnics, a previous winner of the British Firework Championships.
Entertainment was provided by Radio Northampton’s Bernie Keith and DJ Damian Cox – aka Big Bopper, with special performances from the top three finishers at the Wicksteed’s Got Talent contest last month, Lorelei Connolly, Charlie Botting and the Mad Minis. There was also the traditional fun fair.
The event’s organisers have said part of the entrance fees charged will go to the Wicksteed Charitable Trust.
Other fireworks displays across the north of the county this evening included a display at Rushden Hall Park.
However, displays elsewhere in the county, including at the Billing Aquadrome between Earls Barton and Northampton, fell foul of the weather and had to be postponed.
