Crowds of all ages turned out to cheer on the cyclists as the Women’s Tour travelled through Wilby.
The second day of the tour, which started in Hinckley, went via Sywell, Mears Ashby, Wilby and Wollaston today before reaching its final destination for the second leg at Bedford.
Youngsters from Wilby Primary School were among the crowds, holding good luck banners for the riders and cheering as they went past.
Wellingborough mayor Graham Lawman also turned out to see the teams as they rode through the borough.
The weather may not have been as kind as it was on the first day, which saw the race start in Oundle and end up in Northampton, but people’s spirits remained high as they witnessed some of the top female riders whizz past.
But as soon as they had arrived, they had flown past and it was all over.
The crowds dispersed as the support cars followed on and the police started to let the traffic flow again so Main Road, Wilby, could return to normal.
