A teddy bears’ picnic has raised hundreds of pounds to support an anti-incinerator campaign.

Fresh Air Desborough (FAD) organised the fun day, on Sunday, September 1 at the Millennium Green in the town, to raise money to help the group fight plans to build a waste incinerator in Magnetic Park.

The group, which hopes to raise £11,000 to fund the initial stages of a judicial review into the Northamptonshire County Council-approved project, is set to receive an update on where their legal challenge stands in the next few days.

“It’s going well,” said FAD vice-chairman Alan Brooks. “We have had some donations as well.”

After expenses, the fun day raised £315.64, and Mr Brooks added: “That gives us another instalment (towards the court battle).”

Further fundraisers are planned for the autumn.
