A 56-year-old woman was robbed while waiting for a lift to work.

The woman was waiting in Medway Drive, Wellingborough, on Monday, September 17, shortly before 5.30am, when a man grabbed her shoulder and demanded she hand over the carrier bag she was holding and to give him her wedding ring.

The victim was then made to hand over a small amount of cash she had in her pockets before the offender pushed her against a lamp-post. The offender asked the victim to remove her wedding ring but she was unable to do so as it was too tight.

She then hit the thief with the carrier bag and was able to run away.

The offender followed the woman but then got into a white van driving by and left the scene.

The man is described to be aged around 30, white of Eastern European origin, medium build, 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall, clean shaven with mid length hair and was wearing a navy blue and black fleece.
