An 11-year-old boy knocked down by a car in Warkton Lane, Kettering, yesterday morning (Thursday, January 30) is said to be still in a serious condition at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The incident happened at about 7.45am in Warkton Lane, near the junction with Stubbs Lane, when a blue Jaguar XJR, driven by a 61-year-old man from Kettering, was in collision with the youngster.

The 11-year-old, said to be from Barton Seagrave, was taken to Kettering Hospital and later transferred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

This morning, Northamptonshire Police said the boy was still in a serious condition and that there may be another update later today (Friday, January 31).

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the boy shortly before it, to contact them.

They are particularly keen to speak to the driver or occupants of a dark grey or blue Renault people carrier queuing to join Barton Road.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615 or Northamptonshire Police on 101.
