Corby IS getting a Loungers bar - and it’s finally official.

Until now, the owners of the chain have not commented on stories by the Northants Telegraph that they were set to open a new venue called the Paletto Lounge at 66 Corporation Street.

But now the group has submitted a planning application to Corby Borough Council which finally confirms that they are set to bring one of their popular bars to the former Rubix nightclub.

Paletto Lounge will be opening in mid-August.

The application shows a modern glass frontage which opens up on to Corporation Street and George Street to provide an outdoor seating and dining area to mirror those of the new restaurants on the opposite side of George Street.

The site has been vacant since Rubix were forced to surrender their licence at the end of 2015.

Town centre manager Daniel Pickard said: “It’s fantastic news.

“The fit-out is already looking super, as do all the Loungers bars.

“There’s going to be outside seating and the frontage is in a really great position in Corby.

“It’s very exciting.”

The Loungers group already has bars in Kettering and Wellingborough as well as across the whole country.

They offer laid-back dining and drinking with interesting decor.

Until a few years ago, there was no night-time economy in Corby but in the past few years, a host of restaurants and bars have opened to create a growing leisure quarter at the George Street end of town.
