There are just two weeks left to make nominations for the Spirit of Corby Awards.

The awards are a celebration of everything that is good about Corby, its community and the amazing spirit of the people that make it so special.

There are six categories and people are invited to make as nominations as they wish for one or all of them.

A spokesman for Corby Council, which holds the annual awards, said: “It doesn’t matter how little or big the reason, if you think someone has made a difference in your community or done something they should be proud of then let’s celebrate it by getting your nominations in now.”

Once all nominations are in, an independent panel will select a shortlist for each award and the public will be asked to vote for the winners.

The overall Spirit of Corby Award, supported by The Core theatre at Corby Cube, will be chosen by an independent panel from the winners of the other categories.

The Categories for the Spirit of Corby Awards 2012 are: The Jimmy Kane Young Spirit of Corby Award for a young person who has made a contribution to the community, the Club Spirit Award, the Community Spirit Award, the Creative Spirit Award, the Education Spirit Award and the Environmental Spirit Award.

The winners will be announced at an awards night on Tuesday, August 28, at The Core theatre.
