Young people taking part in the Prince’s Trust programme in Kettering have raised more than £100 for a charity based in the town.
Eight of the team of 13 hosted a cake, tea and soup sale at Tresham College this afternoon (Friday, November 22) to help support Accommodation Concern, which offers a free advice service on housing issues.
One of the team members, Taylor Winter, said the team had originally hoped to set up a stall handing out soup to homeless people in Kettering town centre, but logistics made that impossible.
She added: “We suggested raising money for them (instead). It’s been quite a big success.”
The team, which collected £114 from the sale, will also be raising money at a craft sale in Burton Latimer tomorrow (Saturday), and Taylor added: “We are doing it on Saturday, taking time out of our weekend.”
The team has also thanked Sainsbury’s, Asda, McDonald’s, Subway and BB’s Coffee and Muffins for providing some of what was sold at today’s sale.
