The flag outside Kettering’s council offices are flying at half-mast in memory of two former councillors.
Les Marsh and Joan Cowell, who were both borough councillors during the 1980s, died earlier this month.
Mr Marsh, the mayor between 1981 and 1982, died on Tuesday, March 12 at the age of 93. He had been heavily involved in the amalgamated clubs for the blind. The funeral for Mrs Cowell, who died aged 96 on Wednesday, March 6, will take place tomorrow (Thursday, March 21).
The council’s tradition is to fly the flag at half-mast until dusk on the day of the funeral of a former councillor. The flag will be raised to its full height again on Monday, March 25, the day of the funeral of Mr Marsh.
