A group of Travellers who have set up camp in a car park in Kettering have been told to leave by tomorrow morning.

Travellers have spent the last week at various sites around the town, including parks in Meadow Road and Northampton Road and the Telford Way industrial estate.

This morning (Thursday, September 25), a group of about eight caravans was spotted in the car park of the Kettering Conference Centre and Lighthouse Theatre in Thurston Drive.

A Northamptonshire County Council spokesman said: “The Countywide Traveller Unit and a police liaison officer visited the landowner today to offer advice.

“The landowner has now instructed bailiffs to serve a notice for the travellers to leave the site by 10.30am tomorrow (Friday).”

Comic Omid Djalili brings his show to the Lighthouse Theatre tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile, Northamptonshire Police has confirmed a complaint of criminal damage was made in relation to a camp set up in the Northampton Road park overnight on Monday this week. A spokesman said investigations were ongoing.
