Two drivers hospitalised after A45 crash

Two drivers were injured following a serious accident on the A45 near Stanwick.

The accident took place on the A45 east of Stanwick at about 4.50pm yesterday (Tuesday).

A Volkswagen Polo travelling on the eastbound carriageway collided with a Volkswagen Passat travelling in the opposite direction from Raunds towards Stanwick.

A police spokesman said: “The drivers of both vehicles were injured.

“The Polo came to rest on the carriageway while the Passat left the carriageway and came to rest in the nearside ditch.”

The driver of the Polo – a 24-year-old woman from Duston, Northampton – sustained pelvic injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

The driver of the Passat – a 60-year-old man also from Duston – suffered abdominal injuries and a broken left ankle and was also taken to Addenbrooke’s.
