Police have named a woman who died in a road traffic collision on the A6 near Burton Latimer on Thursday, June 6.

She has been formally identified as Julie Bunkall, aged 70, of The Hedges in Rushden.

Mrs Bunkall was the driver of a silver Peugeot 206, which was involved in a collision with a black Peugeot 308.

The passenger of the silver Peugeot, a 69-year-old woman from Wellingborough, remains in a critical condition at Walsgrave hospital.

The driver of the black Peugeot was also taken to hospital and has since been released.

The collision happened at about 2.40pm on Thursday 6 June on the A6 near Burton Latimer, on the stretch of road between the Higham Road and Cranford Road junctions, near the Wold Road overbridge.

The black Peugeot 308 was travelling north towards the A14 and the silver Peugeot 206 was travelling south towards Finedon.

A white Mercedes box-van was also travelling north and stopped at the scene.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have been travelling on the A6 around the time of the collision and who may have witnessed the collision or noticed any of these vehicles shortly before.
