Man seriously injured in quad bike and HGV collision

A man was seriously injured when a quad bike was involved in a collision with an HGV.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the serious road traffic collision which took place on Saturday, May 4.

The incident took place just after midnight on the A14 eastbound carriageway at Junction 13, Thrapston. For reasons yet unknown, a red Honda quad bike collided with a blue Volvo heavy goods vehicle.

The 23-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry. Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Other serious road accicdents took place across the county during the bank holiday weekend.

On Friday, May 3, at 2.40pm, a red Yamaha Virago motorcycle and silver Kia Sedona were in collision on Raunds Road, Chelveston. They were both travelling towards Chelveston.

As a result the rider of the motorcycle, a 76-year-old man, sustained serious injuries.

Also on Friday, a motorcyclist travelling on the A5 at Foster’s Booth was badly hurt when they collided with a silver Vauxhall Astra travelling in the opposite direction, as it turned right onto Butcher’s Lane.

The rider of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was also flown by air ambulance to Walsgrave Hospital.

On Sunday, May 5, a cyclist was in collision with a silver VW Tiguan at 8.05am on Holdenby Road, between Spratton and Holdenby. The cyclist, a 42-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Walsgrave Hospital.
