The Rushden Historical Transport Society got the public into the festive spirit by hosting a “Santa Special” event at the museum today (Saturday December 8).
Merry customers were invited to board the steam train named “Santa’s Special,” sample some mulled wine, or buy refreshments from the 1936 refreshment carriage.
Children could also pay a visit to Santa’s grotto- where they received a present and met his elves (in the video above.)
Tickets for the event, including the visit to Santa, have sold out but the Chairman of the society said people are still welcome to board the train and look around the museum.
John Sugars added:” Every year we make sure that the presents we have match the age and sex of the children we have visiting - so we ask people to book in advance, so that the boys and girls get the best presents for them.
“Tickets are now sold out for Santa’s grotto, but people can still ride the train and join in with everything else. We are asking people to come down, join in with the fun, and enjoy the festive ambience.
“ To make sure you don’t miss out next year, you can book early on our website www.rhts.co.uk”
The Santa Special event continues tomorrow (Sunday December 9) throughout the day.
