Santa Pod has unveiled plans for its season finale and promises fireworks on and off the track.

Flame and Thunder has become a firm family favourite and has events to delight everyone, including a performance by 80s pop star Chesney Hawkes.

The action takes place on Saturday, October 26, and includes 8,000 horsepower Top Fuel dragsters and a selection of some of the world’s most prestigious supercars battling it out with the drag cars on track.

Drag racing legend Barry Sheavills will go head-to-head with fellow countryman Chris Andrews in a Battle of the Brits to find the fastest Top Fuel superstar. Barry Sheavills was the first driver in Europe to break the coveted 300mph barrier – and Chris Andrews has just lifted the European title crown himself this year.

In the Live Action Arena, it’s all about heavy metal, with the Podzilla and Swamp Thing Monster Trucks pulverising a pile of unsuspecting scrap cars into a wafer thin metal sculpture.

There are plenty of airborne attractions throughout the show too; the Heat parachute display team will be dropping in over the course of the show, bringing their own brand of daredevil antics. Human cannonball and circus legend Rodrigo will be delighting crowds with his insane act, and also testing the laws of physics will be Broke FMX, who delight in defying gravity on motocross bikes.

The Live Action Arena will host displays by stunt legend Terry Grant, the drift displays of Team Maximum Lock from Malta and the Fueltopia Barrel Sprint competition.

There will also be children’s activities including a fun fair, climbing wall and BMX displays. And, as darkness falls, a combination of fire burnouts, an enormous bonfire and a computer-controlled firework display ends the evening.

Tickets start at £17, with children under 16 going for free with a paying adult. For more details go to www.santapod.com
