People looking for new ideas for their Christmas meals are invited to visit Oundle Christmas Market.
The market is being held on Saturday, December 6, from midday to 7pm and visitors will be spoiled for choice with stallholders selling delicious treats and goodies for the festive table.
Whether you are after gourmet sausages, pies or charcuterie, or cupcakes, Christmas puddings, cheese and handmade chocolate, there is bound to be a stall to suit your tastes. Vegans and gluten-free customers will be well catered for. And store cupboard basics are also covered with stalls selling coffee, oils, dressings, pickles and preserves – perfect accompaniments to the main meals over the holiday period or those inevitable but comforting left-over snacks.
While you are looking round the stalls, you may want to sample the hog roast, venison and bison burgers or gourmet hotdogs, while washing it down with a tasty glass of mulled wine. Squisito – the BBC Midlands Best Street Food winner and producer of Italian food - will also be there to tempt your taste buds.
There won’t just be food on offer. Stock up on gifts and cards from stalls like ‘Shut the Gate’ with its unique range of printed textiles and wooden signs, or the many stalls selling jewellery, handbags, accessories and novelty goods. You can even treat your pets as there will be a selection of gourmet dog treats to buy.
With a park and ride service running into the market place and the town’s fabulous independent shops and cafes open for late night shopping, there will be plenty of opportunity to relax, soak up the atmosphere and to find that perfect gift. The town’s Christmas lights will be turned on at 6pm.
To add to the festive feeling, Father Christmas will be in his grotto, there will be carol singing, a fire-juggling stilt-walker, children’s fairground rides, and Yarwell and Nassington Brass Band.
