Applications are being sought to fill the position of town manager for Rushden and Higham Ferrers.

The job is being advertised with the hope of finding a candidate who can develop and improve the economy of both towns.

Rushden and Higham Ferrers town councils, which are advertising the job, are hoping to find someone who will be able to take on the role and make the most of the opening of the new multi-million pound Rushden Lakes retail and leisure development nearby.

The advert states: “This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and motivated individual to develop and improve the economy of the town centres of both Rushden and Higham Ferrers.

“Rushden Lakes (a large retail and leisure development) situated on the edge of Rushden, is due to be completed in early 2017 and both town councils are keen for the towns to capitalise on this.

“They envisage close working with Rushden Lakes management to develop strategies which will increase the number of visitors to the towns.

“The role will also include co-ordination and developing the network of existing town groups, to work with all stakeholders to encourage more activity and improve the retail and leisure offering in the towns; to learn from best practices

elsewhere, and identify the best use of resources available to deliver this activity.

“With a proven track record in engaging with and influencing businesses, local stakeholders and the media, you will have the skills to make change happen through dynamic partnership working.

“You will be a creative and strategic thinker with strong leadership and networking skills, and able to identify and respond to local needs and opportunities.

“Experience in events management and project management is desirable although not essential.”

People are being invited to apply for the full-time role which comes with a salary which is negotiable up to £35,000.

The contract is three years initially and the proposed start date is April 1, 2016.
